The Highway Department would like to advise all town residents about a couple of Winter Time items:
- Marlboro Residents can get sand for their personal use at the Highway Garage. The sand for resident use can be found in the shed next to the “salt” pile. Please DO NOT go to the main sand pile down the access road, clearly marked by a “DO NOT ENTER” sign. Access sign at the main sand pile is dangerous and should not be attempted by town residents. Should the sand pile in the shed be “used up”, please contact the Highway Department at (802) 257-0252 (please leave a message) or text/call Andrew on his phone at (802)212-9864 and the Highway Department will replenish the sand pile in the shed for resident use.
- Regarding parking on Marlboro Roadways. The Highway Department reiterates that parking along the side of Marlboro Roadways and/or in the designated plow “turn-around” areas is prohibited. Doing so inhibits the Highway Department in its plowing and sanding efforts and can present a hazard to both Highway Department vehicles, Emergency vehicles, and the parked vehicle. The Highway Department greatly appreciates your efforts regarding this, and your neighbors appreciate it as well, as following these roadside parking rules will only improve the snow removal efforts along Marlboro’s roadways.
- The Highway Department advises that there is a significant amount of firewood available at the Highway Department free of charge to Marlboro residents. If you have an interest in this wood, please contact the Highway Department to arrange for pickup. Also, please be aware that this wood does need to be bucked and split for use in fireplaces and wood stoves, unfortunately, the Highway Department can not provide this service.
