Dear Marlboro Residents,

The Marlboro Select Board, and the Marlboro Highway Department would like to advise you of roadwork that will be conducted on Ames Hill Road in the Summer of 2026 with some preparatory work being done over the Winter.  While the following outlines the project, a full review of the project will be discussed by the Marlboro Highway Department at the 12/13/25 Town Meeting Informational meeting scheduled for 2:00-4:00p at the Marlboro Community Center (also attendance can be accessed on ZOOM).

In the Summer of 2026, in order to facilitate water runoff and control on Ames Hill Road from South Road to Cowpath 40, the Highway Department will be “ditching” along the South Side (Right-Hand Side) of the Road.  This work should not cause actual Road Closures (though there may be occasional closure during equipment movement and placement) but may necessitate single lane traffic  in certain areas.  The Highway Department will post signage as appropriate and will conduct traffic as needed through the work area.  This project will last most of the Summer 2026 and the Select Board and the Highway Department appreciate your cooperation and patience while the Town works to generally improve Marlboro’s roads and increase their resiliency.

In preparation for this work, the Highway Department will be marking trees and brush along the project area to be removed during the Winter (25/26).  If you have any questions or concerns about this tree and brush removal, please feel free to contact the Highway Department or the Select Board via email (or in the case of the Select Board, the Board holds meetings on the 2nd & 4th Thursdays of the month and residents are always able to avail themselves of the “open public comment” time, or contact SB Assistant at TownAdmin@marlborovt.us to reserve more time at an upcoming meeting).

Regarding the tree cutting, the Highway Department would like to remind everyone that any felled tree(s) along a resident’s property can be left in place for the residents to convert into firewood (or other use).  Should there be no claim on the downed tree(s) by the landowner, the Highway Department stockpiles the trees at the Highway Garage, and any Marlboro Resident can make arrangements to secure the downed tree for their use (Firewood, etc.).

For information or inquires on the availability of downed trees & the process, please contact the Highway Department ( marlborovthighwaydept@gmail.com ).
